THE STORY
Since 2010
Originally built by photographer Dorian Caster as a Mediterranean-inspired creative space in Tarzana, the property earned a reputation as one of LA's most-booked locations for photo and film production.
In 2022, photographer Ali Mitton and producer Bryan Whalen took ownership and expanded the property into a full-scale shoot location, event venue, and creative hub. Today, Caster House operates as part of Golden Hour Holding Co. — a portfolio of properties designed for the lens.

We have ample parking available for productions, with space for up to 25 cars across three sections.
For smaller teams, we recommend parking at the House Lot, which is located closest to the house’s entrance and provides easy access for all team members.
House Lot
This parking area is located closest to the house’s front entrance and is best suited for production vehicles with equipment.
Garden Lot
This parking area, just to the right of the front gate, is ideal for team members with minimal equipment, such as photographers and talent.
Street Parking
If the House and Garden parking areas are full, it is recommended to unload the vehicles at the House and then move those trucks, vans, etc. to the street parking area, freeing up space for other members of your team.
Permitting
Caster House is located in Film LA’s permit zone. Pulling a permit with FilmLA is at your discretion. Professionally, we always recommend pulling a permit but can also report that we have never had any issues from neighbors.
Large Crews
Crews with more than 25 vehicles must pull permits and must hire additional off-site parking and shuttle to site.

Lighting
The window are large and arched. They let an abundant amount of light into the space. The light can, hypothetically, be controlled with blackout curtain, etc. Best times of day for courtyard is the morning and for the pool are morning and midday into afternoon.
Sound
Space Is Not Soundproof. We are perched on a hill and are not in a direct flightpath. However, there is still ambient noise from the neighborhood and occasional flights.
Electrical System
Great power. Several outlets. Circuit Breaker Can Be Accessed.
